I tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep no matter how hard I tried. How could I? The man who haunted every corner of my mind was now living right across the street. Viraj. So close I could almost feel his presence pressing against the walls of my home… and yet, I couldn’t touch him.
Technically, nothing was stopping me. I could open the door, cross the street, and never look back. I could choose him, tonight, right now. But I didn’t want it to happen like that. I wanted him to come for me. I wanted him to win my father over, to fight for us in a way that left no doubts. So I waited. Even if that meant more sleepless nights filled with the ache of missing him.
